Gladys Anna Monsen

Gladys Anna Monsen, age 104, of Windsor Park Manor, Carol Stream, formerly of Glen Ellyn 40 years, went to be with our Lord July 7th, 2017. Preceded in death by her husband, Willard Monsen, son, Willard C. Monsen (Terry) and brother, Glenn Crain. She is survived by her daughter Donna M. Ollis, grandchildren Kristie Erreca, Michael Dwyer, Terri Lee Callantine, Kimberleigh Briggs and James Monsen, great grandchildren Terah, Alexys, Nicole, Papillon, Sean, Luisa, Colleen, Michelle and Skyler and several great-great grandchildren.

Born on November 2, 1912 to Walter and Anna Crain of Hoopeston, Il, Gladys was raised in Rossville through high school. She married Willard Monsen in Chicago February 14, 1931, moved to Glen Ellyn in 1947, then to Windsor Park, Carol Stream in 1987. Gladys was a Gray Lady during WWII, then volunteered at Geneva Community Hospital and Central DuPage Hospital. Gladys enjoyed many church volunteer activities, golf, bowling, reading, knitting and bridge. She loved the company of family and friends.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 12, 10:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 41 N Park Blvd, Glen Ellyn where she was a charter member for over 70 years. Burial will be private at Mt. Emblem cemetery, Elmhurst. In lieu of flowers, remembrance may be made to Lutheran World Relief, Faith Lutheran Church or charity of your choice.  Family assisted with arrangements by Leonard Memorial Home, Glen Ellyn.  Service info (630) 469-0032.
