On Thursday, November 1st, 2018, Brian T. Kaneshiro, brother, uncle, father, and grandfather, passed away suddenly at the age of 67. Brian will be forever remembered by his children, Nicholas (Jessica) Kaneshiro and Brianne (Joshua) Kinney. He will also be fondly remembered by his life’s greatest joys, his six grandchildren, Sebastian, Evan, Akari, Kira, Everly, and Ronin.
Brian was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 28th, 1951 and is proceeded in death by his parents Yoshio and Marion Kaneshiro, and survived by his siblings Laura (the late Rodney) Ogawa, Darlene (William) Panko, and James Kaneshiro. Uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Brian served honorably as a Marine in the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1971, during which time he was awarded a Purple Heart. The discipline, adversity, and patriotism he gained in the United States Marine Corps never left him. He attended St. Vincent High School, and in later years, received his undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Utah. He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures and was known for his wit, stubbornness, sarcasm, and humor. He made no grievances or reparations for the man he was, and those closest to him understood the nuances of his love, compassion and kindness, shown in the only ways he knew how.
A celebration of Brian’s life will be held on Thursday, November 8th, 2018 at Leonard Memorial Home, 565 Duane Street, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137. Visitation is from 4:00pm until time of service at 7:00pm . For those whose lives were touched by Brian are welcome to reminisce, grieve and support each other.
