Bernardo José Sanhueza Campoy, age 77, of Glen Ellyn, passed away peacefully on October 1 following a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Born in Concepción, Chile on May 6, 1942. Bernardo came to Chicago in 1974 where he met his wife and lifelong love Nancy. They married on September 7, 1975.
Bernardo was renowned for his energy, enthusiasm, hard work and dedication as a banquet manager for many exceptional hotels in the Chicagoland area and in Washington D.C. His career was marked by his impressive work ethic and commitment to excellence.
He was a loving father and stepfather to his son Bernardo Justin Sanhueza Campoy and stepsons Peter and Matthew Calder. He was a doting Abuelito to his granddaughter Josie Calder.
Bernardo is survived by his wife Nancy, son Justin, stepsons Peter and Matthew, daughter-in-laws Jane, Lynn and Silvia, and granddaughter Josie. He is predeceased by his son Michael and sister Dora.
