George T. Mrkvicka, 97, of Glen Ellyn. Born to James Mrkvicka and Emily Mrkvicka (nee Schovanec) in Downers Grove. He had four older brothers, Ven, Joe, Babe and Pinkie, and an older sister, Mary. After serving in the military, George attended Knox College where he met his devoted wife Dorothy. They were married on October 16, 1954 and settled in Glen Ellyn in 1957 where they raised their family.
George served as a Village trustee and was a loyal patron of the public library. He spent most of his career at Needham Harper & Steers (now Omnicom) and put his creative touch on accounts such as Morton Salt, DeKalb and Cummins.
George loved a good party, gin martinis, the Cubs, and golf but loved his family most of all. He is survived by his wife Dorothy (nee White), his children Steven (Beth), Susan (Thomas) Lambe and Robert, who took great care of George these last few years. Also surviving are grandchildren Christopher Lambe, Conor Lambe, Sam Mrkvicka and Emma Mrkvicka and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a service on Saturday, May 25th, at 11 AM at First United Methodist Church of Glen Ellyn at 424 Forest in Glen Ellyn.
