Ruthann Ward

Ruthann Ward, age 83, passed away on May 11, 2017 at her home in Rancho Cordova, California, after losing her long-fought battle with Parkinson's disease.
Ruthann was a long time member of the Glen Ellyn community and had recently moved to California to be with family. She was an active member of the Glen Ellyn Historical Society and First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed volunteering her time at the Morton Arboretum and consulting for the Butterball Turkey Talk-line. She was a past president of the Glen Ellyn Woman's Club.
Ruthann was preceded in death by her husband, W. Douglas Ward of Glen Ellyn, her parents, Russell and Ruby Curtis of Portland, Michigan, and her daughter Catherine Medecke, of San Antonio, Texas. She is survived by her brother, Roger (Jena) Curtis of Burton, Michigan, daughters Laura Hanks of San Antonio, Texas, and Diane (Martin) Meyer of Folsom, California. Ruthann was blessed with eight grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Ruthann's life will be held on July 15, 2017 at First United Methodist Church of Glen Ellyn 424 Forest Ave., Glen Ellyn at 10:00 am, followed by a private burial.
Donations can be made in her name to the Glen Ellyn Historical Society and First United Methodist Church of Glen Ellyn.
