Just heard about Mr. Miele's passing. Sorry to hear. He was one of the more memorable & favorite ones, and I just remember his laugh/smile. I may have been in one of his first Hadley classes back in 72/73. My 2 fondest memories are of his bringing the slot car track to class- we were having so much fun racing the cars that we thought we'd all get in trouble from the Principal! The other event was a memorable one as he was the only one that could "shoot down" his rowdy student, Mike Major- lifting him up and pushing him to the wall. Quite a vision that I will never forget, and we were all happy that someone could stand up to the bully- though believe Mike got in a little trouble- couldn't do that today! Thanks for the memories Mike- missing those golden days.

May I offer my condolences on the passing of MIke...
I worked with him for many, many years at Hadley Jr. High.
Mike was in extraordinary man. He taught me much about patience, kindness, thinking positively, and treating all people as equals.
I will always remember the "sharp wit" he had, as he could always respond quickly in a comical way, when someone would make a comment to him.
He would also always had a smile on his face too, and sometimes that is very hard to do when working with Junior High Students! I know from experience ...
To put it bluntly, Mike just loved kids, and his legacy lives on in many former students that Mike taught over the years...
He will be sorely missed, but I know in my "heart and soul" that Mike is in a far better place
now, as he rest in the "Hands of God"....
I offer my deepest condolences to his family and all of his close friends ...

As part of the original "Canyon Campers" youth summer trip from the early 80's, I got to know Mike when I was only 11. Yes, I am the one in the very long socks and short shorts (I guess most of us were back then)....More that 35 years later, that trip along with at least 4 others over the next decade, spending time with Mike and Craig are some of my most fondest and memorable times of my life. From making me wash down my feet with rubbing alcohol when camp showers were not available, to spending countless hours in one of his RV's with what felt like no air conditioning (had to save on gas costs...), to the tent monster (still don't understand how he did that joke). The great part is I am only one of many individuals that have had similar positive influences from Mike. Mike will be remembered.

We adored Mr. Miele. I was one of a group of teenage girl scouts in his homeroom one year, with an affinity for playing spoons to pass the time. He was completely supportive right up until we flipped a spoon and nearly hit him. We were told to switch to a different card game and he gave us a hard time about it for the rest of the year. On top of being an amazing teacher (I still remember the Constitutional Amendments the way he taught them), he was a good-humored and kind man. So deeply sorry for your loss.

Mr. Miele had a profound impact on my life, not only as a teacher but as a friend and mentor. I will always remember the trips out west that he led with a group of students. He was a very kind person that cared about the well-being of his students.

Mike was very involved with our family as he was coach for our daughter's little league softball team. Our son was also one of the coaches. A caring coach and teacher..with a mind of his own. I also worked with Mike for over 20 years at Hadley Jr. High. He gave so many kids opportunities they would not have had without Mike giving up his time and talent to teach them chess and other life lessons. He will be missed. Rest in Peace!

Enjoyed our years of working together at Hadley. My daughter still thinks of you fondly and still does a great impression of you😌 How wonderful to read the notes of the former students whose lives you touched. Job well done. Just sad you left so soon. Rest in peace Mike.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. M's passing. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. When I was his student, I was greatly intimidated by him. He wasn't a typical teacher, and his lessons weren't necessarily from the textbook. At the time, it was uncomfortable. As an adult looking back, however, I realize that he taught me more than nearly all of my other teachers. Because of him, I value thinking for myself, preparing coherent arguments, reading instructions, and not taking everything at face value. My husband was a student of his, too, and even went on a road trip to amusement parks with him. We've had many conversations about what an impact Mr. M had on our lives. I wish I had had an opportunity to thank him. I also wish that my daughter will someday have a teacher just like him. In your grief, please be comforted by how he changed the lives of his many students. He was an incredible man, and I'm so sorry for his passing. All the best.
