Jean Snyder

Jean Snyder age 91, of Glen Ellyn since 2008 and formerly of Milwaukee WI passed away on August 15, 2016.  Jean was born October 31, 1924 in Stoy, IL. to her late parents Thomas & Gertrude Yargar. She is the beloved wife for 52 years of the late John Snyder MD who was a practicing physician at Milwaukee Children’s hospital for over 40 years.  She is the loving mother of John Frazier IV (Jean Ostrander) & Kathlyn, nee: Snyder (Charles) Fox; dear grandmother of Haverly Jean Snyder, James Frazier Fox & Christina Wheaton Fox; fond sister of the late Laura Marting & the late Lenis Frey; special aunt of Tom, Sidney Bill, Margret Ann and Donna Lee Frey, Tally Knippen, Kent Williams, Shawn Williams, Leslie Taylor, Walter Damon, Gary Damon and the late Dean Damon.  Jean earned a Bachelors degree in home economics at Purdue University where she was also assistant editor of the Purdue Exponent. She volunteered as a docent at the Milwaukee public museum and with the children’s hospital auxiliary. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, a homemaker and fantastic cook. She had a passion for learning, a love for medieval history and art history, birds, gardening and travel.  Most notably she had a deep passion and profound empathy for the less fortunate among us. Visitation for Jean will be Saturday August 20th from 11 AM – 12:30 PM at Leonard Memorial Funeral Home (630-469-0032), 565 Duane St. Glen Ellyn.  Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery in Wheaton, IL.  For more information see www.leonardmemorialhome.com.
