Herbert A. Bruce

 Herbert Arthur Bruce, 88, died Wednesday, January 4 at Central DuPage Hospital following a long illness. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marilyn (Rosengren) Bruce; his son, Scott Bruce; his daughter, Vicki (Bruce) Lafontaine and her husband Bill; three grandchildren and their spouses: Ben and Aimee (Mendoza) Lafontaine, Jami (Lafontaine) and Bryan Dougherty, and Steve and Liz (Book) Lafontaine. Herb also has 4 great-grandsons who brought him so much joy: William Lafontaine, Jack Lafontaine, Colin Dougherty, and Cormac Dougherty. Herb is also survived by his sister, Nancy (Bruce) and her husband Ken Woodman, his sister-in-law Betty Bruce, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Herb’s parents Frederick Bruce and Edna (Lund) and his brother Fred predeceased him. Herb was raised in Maywood, graduated from Proviso High School, spent his career as a master plumber, was an Army veteran and a 64-year resident of Glen Ellyn. In lieu of flowers, donations to your favorite charity would be appreciated. A Memorial Service will be held in Herb’s honor at The First United Methodist Church, 424 Forest Avenue, Glen Ellyn at 1:00 on Saturday January 21, 2017. Burial Services will be private.
