David John Kostolansky, Jr. was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 11, 1966 to David John Kostolansky, Sr. and Mary Margaret (“Marge”) Biondi Kostolansky.  He was the older brother of Paul Kostolansky, Julianne Kostolansky, and Margaret Kostolansky Stauffer.

Dave was a member of Boy Scouts Troop Number 101 in Warren, Ohio, where his father was an Assistant Scout Leader.  He earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1982.  For his Eagle Scout project, Dave raised funds and designed and built rehabilitation devices for the Children’s Rehabilitation Center (CRC) in Warren, Ohio. He graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in the top ten of the class of 1984.

Dave then continued the family tradition and fulfilled his dream of attending Notre Dame.  He received his BA in Business Administration in 1988 and returned to Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business to earn his MBA in 1993.  Dave was a life-long Fighting Irish fan.

Although there is some dispute as to how they met, Dave liked to say that Mary was stalking him at the fax machine at Dun & Bradstreet in Chicago.  They married in 1993 at Grace Lutheran Church in Glen Ellyn, Illinois and had their three children: Megan Anne, Kathryn Grace, and Clare Alicia.

Dave was a servant to all and constantly looked for opportunities to help, whether he was working the 2:00 am to 5:00 amshift at the homeless shelter at First Presbyterian, doing the dishes at every family gathering, wearing the headdress as the longest reigning chief of Indian Princesses for his three girls, going to the garage fridge to get you a beer, or sharing his playlist.

Dave was loved by his work colleagues.  He joined SRDS/Kantar Media in 1997 where his last position was Chief Operating Officer.

Dave is survived by his parents, wife, children, siblings, and many adoring cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
