Alice "Joanne" Snyder

Alice “Joanne” Snyder, 86, of Glen Ellyn, Illinois passed away peacefully at her home on July 10, 2017.

Joanne was born February 15, 1931, in Kewanee, IL. She was the only daughter of Earl and Florence Carlson. She married William Snyder, her college sweetheart, on June 11, 1955. Joanne is preceded in death by her loving husband Bill of 54 years. She is survived by her dear children Lisa (Tom) Griffin, David (Beth) Snyder and Jennifer (Rob) Johnston along with her very special grandchildren Melissa (Ryan), Kelsie (Steve), Brendan, Shane, McKenna, Shaun, and Ryan and one precious great grandchild, Nolan.

Joanne grew up on a farm in Cambridge, IL, and was a proud graduate of Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. She and Bill made their home and raised their family in the Chicago area. She was a devoted elementary school teacher for many years. Throughout her life she was actively involved in many community and church activities.  Above all, Joanne was passionate in her love for her family, her faith, her friends, Chicago sports teams, and her Swedish heritage.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 PM on Friday July 14, 2017 at Leonard Memorial Home, 565 Duane Street, Glen Ellyn.   A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday July, 15 2017 at Faith Lutheran Church, 41 North Park Blvd, Glen Ellyn.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Faith Lutheran Church in Glen Ellyn, IL or Augustana College in Rock Island, IL.
