A. Richard "Dick" Triebel, passed away at the age of 84 on June 20, 2017. He was born February 14, 1933, the only son of Albert and Ruth Dunseth Triebel. Dick was the beloved husband of 60 years to Jackie, his high school sweetheart. Loving father of Jenny (Mike) LaPointe of Glen Ellyn, and Sally (Kevin) Werntz of Savannah, Georgia. Dear grandfather of Matt and Lindsay LaPointe and Drew Werntz. Dick graduated from Springfield High School in 1951. During his high school summers, he attended Culver Military School in Indiana. In 1955, Dick received his college degree from Cornell University School of Hotel Administration. His career spanned 36 years; first as Motel Manager at Albert Pick Hotel Corp., then as Bakery and Food Service Regional Manager for Pillsbury. Dick spent the last 27 years of his career as National Food Service and Industrial Sales and Marketing Manager in the USA and Canada for Uncle Bens Rice, a division of Mars Inc. He was an Eagle Scout, served as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army Reserve and was a 32 Degree Mason in the Schriners. For 20 years, at the Illinois State Fair, Dick and his parents ran the food service for all the 4H participants. Dick was a 50-year resident of Glen Ellyn. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church serving on the Board of Deacons and later as an usher. For several years, Dick was an active volunteer for DuPage Pads, which provides overnight housing and meals for the homeless, and at the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry. Over the years, Dick enjoyed the camaraderie of his friends playing golf and tennis. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 23rd, 4:30 to 7:30 pm, at Leonard Memorial Funeral Home at 565 Duane Street in Glen Ellyn. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 24, at 10:00 am in the chapel at First Presbyterian Church, 550 North Main Street in Glen Ellyn. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to DuPagePads (601 West Liberty, Wheaton IL 60187), or Glen Ellyn Food Pantry (493 Forest Avenue, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137).
