Miriam "Mitzi" Kuta, 81, of Glen Ellyn passed away Feb. 8, 2013, at her home.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Petronille Catholic Church in Glen Ellyn. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Wheaton. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Leonard Memorial Home, 565 Duane St., Glen Ellyn.

Mitzi was born Nov. 5, 1931, in Sioux City. She was a 1953 graduate of Briar Cliff College in Sioux City IA. She worked as a social worker for Catholic Charities in Chicago prior to her marriage. She was a resident of Glen Ellyn for 54 years.

She was an active community member of her parish and enjoyed golf, bridge, poker, reading and "Jumble" puzzles. She was adored by all that knew her for she was a mother to those that needed her, a friend when no one else would do and always someone that put a smile on your face.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Raymond George Kuta; her children, Karen Nicholson of Glen Ellyn, Kevin Kuta of Glen Ellyn, Constance (George) Lopez of Lombard, and Kimberly (Thomas) Phillabaum of Glen Ellyn; her grandchildren, Stephen, Kearstin, Brandon, Lee, Samantha, T.J., Paul and Spencer; her brother, James (Susan) Greer of Sarasota, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be directed to The Discalced Carmelite Nuns at Our Lady of the Incarnation Monastery, 2901 S. Cecelia St., Sioux City, IA 51106-3299.
