George F. Fischer, 86, passed away on January 22,2013 peacefully at the Oaks Care Facility in Escondido, California. He was born on May,28, 1926 to Francis and Herman Fischer. George grew up in Chicago and after high school he attended the University of Illinois in Champaign, Illinois where he received a BA in Physical Education. After a serious attempt to make it into major league baseball he went to work for Wilson Sporting Goods where he worked for thirty years. He continued to enjoy playing golf and tennis, coaching baseball and spending time with his family. George married Nan J. Myers and together they had a wonderful family of six children, sixteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Herman, step father Victor Novak,brother Herman, daughter Elizabeth and granddaughter Catherine. No doubt they were all there to welcome him home. A funeral service will be held at St. Petronille Catholic Church, 420 Glenwood Ave, Glen Ellyn, Illinois at 10:00 am on January 26,2013.
