Richard A. Maganini, 48, of Glen Ellyn, IL, passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by his wife and children on December 28, 2012 after a hard fought 3 1/2 year battle with brain cancer. Rich grew up in Hinsdale, IL, the youngest of Helen and the late Dr. Robert Maganini, and graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Journalism/Communications. He was the Director of Corporate Communications for Open Text Technologies for 10 years. He held prior positions at Arthur Anderson, Comdisco, Ameritech and Deborah Gordon Public Relations. Rich is survived by his loving wife Tammy, nee Jackson, and was the proud father of three children, Richard "RJ" (16), Michael (14), and Kelly (12). Also survived by his mother Helen; his brothers and sisters, Anthony "AJ" Maganini of San Clemente, CA, Elena Maganini of Burbank, CA, Gina Maganini of Glen Ellyn, IL, and Dr. Robert "Bob" Maganini of St. Charles, IL; sisters-in-law Jan Knox, Jerilyn Merrill, Kathy Rodgers; brothers-in-law Dan Jackson and Jim Jackson. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. Rich will be deeply missed along with his stories, impressions and incredible sense of humor, the depth of our sadness is commensurate with how wonderful he was and it feels bottomless. A wake will be held Wednesday, January 2nd, 3 to 9p.m. at Leonard Funeral Home, 565 Duane St., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137. Funeral Services Thursday, January 3rd at 9:30a.m. from the Funeral Home to St. Petronille Catholic Church, 420 Glenwood Ave., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137 for 10:00a.m. Mass. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery in Glen Ellyn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Maganini Children College fund, c/o Tamara Maganini.
